Hi,

I have a strat that has a small chip in the finish on the neck. It's on the fingerboard between two strings. Not really in my way, but it's chipped down to the wood so I'd like to fill it to prevent further chipping...

It's a maple neck (I think) with an amber lacquer finish.

Anyone know how to do this? What material, where would I get it...any gotcha's?

thx.

jj

I had one of those on the side of the neck. took it to a luthier repair guy. he said no way.
it is a mark of use and should be left alone.
he would fix it, tho, when I needed refretting.
otherwise he said it was not worth it.

you would need to figure out what finish was used. otherwise, there may be incompatibility issues with the filler and original finish.
I learned to live with my nick.

Check out old maple necks on most the finish is non-existent. Wear is an unfortunate side effect of playing. Like my fishing friends say "If your not losing gear your not fishing!"
