I'm considering changing my pickups and pickguard on my Highway One Strat, but the ones I'm looking at (Custom Shop '69's) only come in white. I've seen colored pickup covers, and was wondering if that is a viable option. Do the white ones just come off and replaced with the black ones? I've never seen them in the stores, just online so I wasn't sure how they were installed. Are they in place of the white ones, or just fit over the existing white covers?

Not exactly sure of the HW1 pickups but all that type pickups I've seen just have a simple plastic cover that is held in place with some resin/weak glue if anything; sometimes just the screws & springs keep the cover attached to the pickup itself. Underneath the plastic there's a cardboard or fiber sheet through which the poles protrude, and otherwise the coils are exposed. So the covers should be easy to just swap to colored ones. Mind you, not all pickups have exactly the same polepiece spread or same size holes for polepieces, but Fender pickups I'd venture are quite standard and if they say it's Fender replacement cover it will likely work.

Yeah that's kinda what I'm thinking too. They appear to be exactly the same, I just wasn't sure how they were secured to the internal parts. Thanks dude!
