Lately I have been having a really strange low rattling/buzzing sound that seems to be coming from under the bridge area on my guitar. It only happens on certain frequencies and it depends on how I pluck the string/s. The harder I pick, usually with my fingers, the more of a chance it will happen. A friend of mine suggested it may be a loose brace but I have no idea what that means or how difficult or expensive that would be to fix. Any ideas what else it could be?

What kind of guitar is it?

Sounds like a loose brace. Could it be something else? Sure...
About 7-8 years ago I was noticing the same thing with my Martin. It didn't happen all the time - just on certain notes. And just sometimes on those notes. It took me over a month to track it down - it was the shirt I was wearing!
I'd bought a new shirt that had a cuff button in just the right spot so it would barely touch the A string when I played third string notes. Made me feel kinda silly when I found the cause, but it was an easy fix (roll up sleeve on that shirt)
Checking for a loose or cracked brace will require an inspection mirror and a light. They can be hard to spot, but it's usually possible to fix them without removing the top - but you might need to invest in a syringe to deliver the glue, and a large clamp to set it through the sound hole.

Ok, that doesn't sound as bad as I was thinking. Thanks for the help. I've had the same problem with the shirt sleeve before. Although I figured that one out in... I'll just say it didn't take me a month haha. Hopefully I won't have to remove the top and I'll be able to verify the true problem.
