Well the strat I've been working on is finished, everything is put together, but their are some problems.

When the push pull on the circuit is down, the guitar sounds great, minus a slight increase in volume for the first second of the note. It starts out kinda flat for a milisecond or two, then works fine.

When the push pull is pulled up though, the problems show up. If the volume is not on full, no sound reaches the output. When on full, unless you play really soft, All the notes come out a cross between farting and a bad tuba. A deep distorted sound.

The pickups sound great, little noise thanks to the aluminum foil shielding job, and the Reverse Wound pup. A bit more output would have been nice, but I'm not complaining.

I have no clue if down or up is to activate the circuit. I'm guessing the bypass is down, and something is wrong with the circuit when its on. I'll scan in my hand drawn final wiring, take pictures (it looks good), and put up some soundclips if anyone needs to hear the sound to diagnose. Thanks in advance.

What "circuit"?

I started with nothing - and I've still got most of it left.
Did you know that the word "gullible" is not in any dictionary?

The SRV Exciter Circuit from guitarfetish.com. (My other posts talk more about it, labeled Active Circuit Problems and strat fixup)

Schematic, which is a combination of the one for the special 5 way and the circuits.

The guitar looks nice :)

There is no link to a sound file or your soundclick page.

Also, can you post a copy of the circuit schematic or diagram that came with it?

Eek!

Yeah, that's not good.

Based on the instruction sheet it doesn't look like you connected the "GND" tab on the circuit to the proper locations. Go direct to the battery negative and the jack.

Should it matter whether or not I go from the GND to the back of the volume pot, then to the jack, or does it have to go dirrectly to the jack.

Also, what would explain for the fact that there is only noise when the volume pot is full when the push pull is pulled?

Generally speaking, ground loops are not desirable as they can introduce noise. In this case, with active electronics, I think it might be important to connect the circuit to the battery's negative pole.

Besides, if you're not connecting to the battery negative, what is your connector's other wire running to? You are using a 9v connector, aren't you? Like one of these?

The jack is getting three wires.
One prong gets the out from the circuit
The second gets the ground from the volume pot
and the third gets the battery negative.

Heres another diagram -

Ok, so the only problem is when you are in so-called bypass mode? Then I'd have to guess it's a bad component ...

Is it possible I fried the circuit while soddering? I tried not to get the iron close to the board. I'm thinking about undoing everything and just putting the two tone pots in and wiring it regular. Really liked the idea of that circuit.

Welcome to the world of modding! Isn't it a female dog? Sorry it's not working out. I'd desolder everything grab your ohmmeter and make sure your switches work, then look at everything carefully and resolder. Chances are something is shorting out.

Pulled a stupid one everybody. It seems the stereo jack through me off, it has two clips, and when you plug a cable in it has to click two times, and I only had one in.

Go figures. But, Problem solved!

A little force goes a long way sometimes. Glad you got it working! Give us some sound clips. 8) 8)
