I was setting up a Dish installation yesterday and I came across an old Washburn Lyon strat copy. I asked the customer if I could take it and they gave it to me, and I didn't have a chance to really look at it till I got home. It's obviously been left outside for a long time, the one string left on it was rusted and so is the bridge and the tuners. I took the neck off and even the neck bolts had rusted. The fretboard is chipped on the 19th fret and also on the 21st, and it looks pretty dry with some warps. Can I fix this thing as a project, or would it be a waste of time and money?

Can you fix it?
Anything's possible, I suppose.
How good are you with tools? Got lots of time on your hands? Do you believe that the "journey is as important as the destination?

What condition are the pickups in? I'm guessing that the pots are useless, if it's been outside in the weather for some time.

If the neck is warped, then I'd be inclined to say it's more trouble than it's worth.

I wrapped a newspaper ’round my head
So I looked like I was deep
