So I just bought a new Squier "Vintage Modified Stratocaster"—
I love the look of it. The PUPs really scream and have a tone that suits me well. The nut needs some work, but that's doable.
The big problem is that it comes with a non-standard size zinc alloy bridge block. I would like to put a steel block (either Fender or Callaham) on, but the trem mount screw holes may not fit any of the Fender sizes (vintage or standard).
So I may be stuck with the junky little zinc alloy toy in an otherwise awesome instrument. Anyone know how to get a little better sound out of a zinc alloy block without replacing it for a steel one. Or where to get a custom block made without spending a fortune?
Have you checked out GFS? They might have an upgrade.
