Smoke and Charlotte,
That was very cool 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8)
It really sounds like an old folk recording. I think you two
should put an act together. I'm sure you would be a big
hit at family functions.
Hope to hear more
John
That was wonderful Charlotte! :D 8) Great vocals. Your grandpa's guitar playing wasn't too bad either! 8) I still remember your "Cool Cat Blues" song too. Love them both. :D Thanks for sharing your talent with us. 8) 8)

I was thinking the same thing Ken. Her voice sounds so...pure, its refreshing, almost...gives hope. Couldn't think of how to say it in my earlier post.
Very cool! It's great when one generation can connect like that with a much younger generation! Keep up that relationship!!

Smoke and Charlotte -
I was THRILLED to see this in here.
Such a lovely song, and a wonderful choice to do as grandparent/grandchild, as I do believe that Elizabeth Cotten
recorded Shake Sugaree with her own grandchildren.
Wonderful guitar playing....
The standout was Charlotte here though.
I wholly agree with Taso - Pure, fresh, refreshing, and hopeful; like a flower in early Spring. :D
I will certainly listen to this often - if you don't mind????
I loved it!!!!
Thankx :D

I've never heard of this song before so I looked it up on youtube. I found this version. 8)

Its a great song and its in my vocal range  This guy is playing it with a capo ion the second fret.
Smokin'dog - That was a cool version.
I never even thought of lookin' that up on youtube.
Sometimes it takes a friend to point out the obvious. :D
Thankx.
I used to sing like that - when I was younger.
People remember my versions of certain songs that I sung like that and request me to do 'em.
I can't do it though; my voice has mellowed with age :)
If you can - try an get a listen to Elizabeth Cotten's version.
Smoke does the guitar wonderfully close.
I'm not kidding though - Charlotte sounds just like EC's granddaughter!!!!
Especially on the word 'PAWN'.... with that little quiver in it.
I don't know if Charlotte had to work on that one word as much as Smoke says he worked
on the guitar.... I know I would've.
Charlotte - I went back for another listen, and I thought I could almost see you. :D
Your vocals are SO vivid and full of life.
Great job. Keep it up. Looking forward to hearing your next one.

Thanks to everyone who gave feedback on this charlotte is really thrilled to get such a positve response, love that utube version as well, but when we first heard this song charlotte anounced that this was hers so no one here is allowed to sing it. the guitar part drove me made and the keyboard player in our band managed to play it first and then i had the task of retuning each string untill it worked. thanks again to everyone, off to charlottes birthday party now. we all know what her party piece will be
