The Could-Be-Classical Clap Along Song..

Finally finished, this is probably my best song ever. For those with real skills: the piano melody is availlable in tab and music notation but it's pretty darn hard to try. :P Let me know what you think of it, thanks!

ps. For those who dislike soundclick:

No, sorry for not mentioning. All tracks where note for note put into GP then polished up with soundfonts to get rid of the MIDI sounds. I've been playing for nine months or so. I didn't play it myself because of three reasons:

1) Half of it is WAY too complex and fast
2) My keybord sounds like utter crap and I can't use soundfonts with it
3) The song is rhythmically rather complex (used 6/8, 7/8, 4/4, 9/8 5/4, 11/8 and some such nasty signatures)

This song is going in my portfolio that will be judged by the Conservatorium' exam commision and it's about composition, so I didn't feel like screwing it up. For completeness sake: I didn't play any violin as well.

Glad you liked it!

Wow Arjen. Very beautiful. I love the building up of tensions, the power behind the piano is great, even though it's not a human playing it! The whole thing was very beautiful. If I played piano, I'd definitly want to learn it.

You think about adding timpani rolls (spelling/not sure what they are really called) in some parts?

NICE job

Sorry Arjen, I've been away for a few days. Thank you for sending me the link!

I thought that kicked MAJOR A$$!!! I really hope you work on being able to play that yourself because that would blow peoples minds! I liked the flute part too.  I thought it was a great touch, it added some "flavor" to it. Was the flute done through that program as well?

Keep up the great work!!!

Fantastic!!!

Mike

Taso: Thanks dude. I *might* add them, but there are a billion istruments I never ever used, and it takes some time to figure out how to use what when. This time the flute, next time the Timpani. :D

Tracker: Cool, glad you liked it. I'm definitely working on my piano skills, getting weekly lessons from a graduated conservatorium student. But it's like with guitar, I can't expect to play like the best in a few months. The flute was indeed also programmed, couldn't find a proper soundfont for it so I used this one.

And don't worry. I'll keep up the work, good or bad. ;)

Nice one Arjen - most impressed! :D

Was the title "Bunch of Keys" or did I misunderstand that?

That was great to listen to, and also inspiring to hear what can be done with composing software. I shall now add "learn to compose on computer" to my already overblown list of musical ambitions... 8)

Cheers, Chris

Thanks guys, much appreciated. :D

RTJ: Will upload the chord progression in some days, but it ain't easy to type out. Time signature constantly changes and it isn't really that much chord based anyway. But I'll give it a try, would love to hear whatever you play over it.

A friend of mine went to Aston University in the mid 70's, he told me a story about Focus....apparently, they played a gig at the Uni, Jan Akkerman had just left the band, and the new guitarist, Philip Katherin (? not sure of spelling?) didn't know Hocus Pocus too well....so Thijs Van Leer spent a fortune in the juke box, playing Hocus Pocus over and over again so's PK could learn it......

No i-pods in those days.....

As requested, the chord progression. Or something resembling it: An arrangement of it for one guitar, with something of an chord progression above and time signatures placed in. For those with some time to burn, good luck. :)
