I want to try recording from my guitar onto my laptop, and ive got a jack so i can plug a guitar lead into the mic plug on the laptop.
now, i assume that if i run my guitar direct to the latop, i will get no signal. but if i run it via my amp, out the line out, is there any danger i will blow the mic jack/damage the computer?

thanks

Just watch your levels. Going from the line out should be fine as long as it is a line out and not a speaker out. You'll know when it's too loud. It'll clip. If I were you though, for the sake of more control and just fear of ruining a laptop, I'd spend $60buck on a cheap 5 channel mixer http://www.behringer.com .
