I think you will like it. I use it and Kristal audio engine which has more features but I still like the editing capabilities in Audacity better. One thing nice about Kristal is that it lets you select an external audio editor and automatically export the track to it. Obviously I selected Audacity.

Just rambling but the bottom line is using either Audacity or Kristal will get you some expertise for when you get into Cakewalk.

Thanks for all the info!

Being the impatient (drummer=timing is everything) putz that I am, I took the bull by the horns and called MF directly.

This is what I ended up with.....

http://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7/g=rec/s=software/search/detail/base_pid/706731/c_lv=1/

I hope this will give me room to grow. (Especially since I just got hatched today.)

I hope I have everything needed. I was told I could add that Behringer mixer later on. It'll probably be 6 months before anyone hears from me again. I'll be a riffin' SOB. You guys will be sick of me very soon. :D

I gotta go home and sit on the porch anxiously awaiting my toys. (Well hello Mr. Green.)

Buh-bye.
So-how did the cake walk program work out for you? is it easy to use? I'm looking for a software recording program for around $150 or so. Also what did you decide to do about the sound card :?: Inquiring minds want to know   --the dog

I'm embarrased to say, both items are still in the boxes. I haven't had a lick of time since I got them to even look at them.

I've had a rough couple of weeks since traveling and am back on the road next week.

I'm not trying for sympathy or condolences but to let on without details....

Daughters....and not in any certain order.

Fights / separations with spouses.
Apartment fires - no one there at the time or loss of life would have been...YIKES!!!! (Salvaging what we could from the aftermath. I now have a garage full of sooty smokey clothing and assorted furniture.)
Two daugthers moving back in within a month
Birthday celebrations
After hours catastrophies at work
Band gigs and practice every week
Guitar lessons started this week
Grand daughter baby sitting...(the only bonus)

So I've had a lot on my plate but not much time to play with any new gear (other than my newest guitar)

I probably won't have much time in the next couple of weeks either. Sorry to not be able to share any valuable information.

NOTE to Dog: I haven't forgotten about the song you sent me. I hope you aren't waiting for me. I do want to play something to it. It's just been hard to focus on it. If you can't wait I understand. I think with getting all the gear in the same room and setting it up to record will take more time than actually getting a recording done. That's my biggest hang up at the moment. Very sorry.

Nuthin to be sorry about :D No hurry, I posted the song with the drum machine, http://www.soundclick.com/bands/songInfo.cfm?bandID=213596&songID=3019653but I can repost it when you add your part, "good things come to those who wait". Sounds like you got your hands full, I think most of us can relate to that  --the dog

I would highly recomend Acid Music Studio 6 right now. They have included VST and DX plugin support and if you purchase onlin you get three disks of loops. Since Acid is somewhat being left in the lurch right now, the price is very low for it's capabilities. I guarantee you will come to appreciate it's time stretching and beat matching tools. A great program. Unfortunately I bought AMS 5 just before 6 came out. Stupid stupid!
