Most likely a blown resistor. Get it to an amp tech.

There are going to be MANY resistors, not one.

Also, is it a tube amp? If so, there is VERY DANGEROUS high voltage inside.

100 bucks is a small price to pay.

Besides, it could be something completely different.

Electronic repair is a skill that can be learned if you're interested. You'll have to spend time reading up in books or on websites, buy some instruments and tools and practice learning to use them. Not too different from playing guitar. If you have to ask questions like this you're not ready to dive in cutting and soldering stuff in your amp. The problem hasn't even been diagnosed yet. You pay a tech for what he knows as much as for what he does. You're going to have to do that, unless you're willing to put in the time and effort to learn how it's done properly.

Tubes (valves) are easy to see. They have to be exposed to air for cooling. Look in the back of the amp. They're big tubular glass things that get hotter than blazes in operation and have bits that glow inside. The smaller ones may be covered with little metal canisters that shield them from electrical noise, but the big power tubes are always open.

Bass amps often are all solid state. Bass players don't generally care for much distortion, and often want more power capability than you can economically produce with tubes nowadays.

Tell that to the thousands of bassists who have bought Tech21 Bass Drivers trying to get tube overdrive from their SS gear.

Yeah, I suppose they're no more "one size fits all" than guitarists are.

Sorry to stray from the topic, but what do you think of Tech 21? I use a Tech 21 TRI OD as a preamp into my Epi Valve Junior Head and it sounds awsome! It is analog tube emulation! I use a Tech 21 Sans Amp GT2 for direct recording.

I like Tech21; I had one of their Trademark guitar amps and thought it was quite good though the 10" speaker would fart out on bassier riffs. I've heard soundclips of their BDDI and they are incredible - they really capture overdriven tube amp sounds, and very cost-effectively. Heck, if Geddy Lee uses one, they can't be too bad! That being said, the Behringer copy does a very good imitation, for a fraction of the price.
