HI -

Some friends have a Peavey XR684 powered mixer that's rated at 2x200 watts (4 ohms).

On the back of the PA head it says 'PA 1' & 'PA 2'.There's a mode switch for main/main or main/monitor.
Each amp has two (2) 1/4" jack outputs - 4 jacks total.

Are they getting 200 watts out of each 'jack' or 100 watts out of each 'jack'?

They bought the Peavey used without a manual.Yesterday I was able to find one in PDF format and print it out but it wasn't clear about how many watts each side was getting.

MUCH THANKS for any info/answers...

Ray

It depends on what you plug in to those jacks.

The manual states that each side (PA 1 or PA 2) is rated for 200 watts output at 4 ohms impedance, and 150 watts at 8 ohm impedance. It also states that the output jacks are in parallel. Assuming each speaker also has parallel I/O jacks, This means you'll get from each side:

150 watts with an 8 ohm speaker in one jack (8 ohms total)
150 watts with a 16 ohm speaker in each jack (8 ohms total)
150 watts with 2 16 ohm speakers "daisy chained" from one jack (8 ohms total)
somewhere between 150 and 200 watts with 2 16 ohm speakers "daisy chained" from one jack (8 ohms), and a single 16 ohm speaker in the other (about 6 ohms total)
somewhere between 150 and 200 watts with a single 8 ohm speaker in one jack (8 ohms), and a 16 ohm speaker in the other (about 6 ohms total)
200 watts with 2 16 ohm speakers "daisy chained" from both jacks (4 ohms total)
200 watts with 2 8 ohm speakers "daisy chained" from one jack (4 ohms total)
200 watts with 2 16 ohm speakers "daisy chained" from one jack, and a single 8 ohm speaker in the other (4 ohms total)
200 watts with 2 a single 8 ohm speaker in each jack (4 ohms total)

They have 8 ohm speakers - not sure what brand but one of the guys mentioned the speakers are rated for 200 wts continuous.

OK - That means you'll get 150 watts per side (A - B) with one speaker plugged in to each side (300 watts total), or 200 watts per side (400 total) with two speakers in each side.
