hi everyone,

ive been posting here and there for a few months now (pretending to be an authority on whatever subject happens to be mentioned 8) I thought i should say hello.

My name is Scott and I live in Sydney. Ive been playing guitar for about 2 or 3 years. Got my first guitar as a 21st present from some mates I was living with in Austria. We lived in a middle of nowhere skitown and they went to the local shop with minimal german skills and walked out with a guitar with a crack in the neck. Aparently the guy gave them a discount and said a crack in the neck was just aesthetic.

Still, I loved it and I travelled with it for a year before I upgraded recently (with advice from a few people in these forums) to a Garrison G25E ( http://www.garrisonguitars.com/gseries.asp?r=g25 ). A relatively new brand of guitar with fiberglass rather than wood bracing. Otherwise its all top notch materials, all solid wood, cedar top. Admittedly, it was a bit of a gamble but the sound won me over. If you ever see a garrison in a shop pick it up and give it a go. Still, Im sure a few people are shaking their heads vigorously at the moment, I can understand

Im mostly just an acoustic strummer but im working through the lessons to improve my fingerstyle (thanks to everyone who contributes by the way). Influences range from rage against the machine to tracy chapman. I really dig listening to everyones music on soundclick in Hear here, Songwriters Club etc so keep it coming, I reckon for every person that comments at least 10 listen. Maybe soon you'll have to endure some of my stuff!

So there you go! Its a great forum, see you all around!

Scott,

You've been here a lot longer than I have but welcome, anyway! :) I'll keep an eye out for a Garrison guitar, I don't think I've heard of those before.

So when *are* you gonna post some music? Looking forward to it!

Jeff

I just heard about a bass made of carbon fiber or something like that - my bass player told me he saw a guy jump into a pool with one and was floating around on it! Fiberglass bracing made me think of it...

Welcome!

funny you should say that progressions, because ive always used my poor recording setup as an excuse for why I dont post songs. But just today I went out and bought a Tascam USB external audio interface and studio projects b1 condenser mic. I just set it all up and it sounds unbeleivable. So now i guess i have no excuses...

If that was an excuse I'd never have gotten anything done!
