Apparently Newcastle Brown Ale does not travel well, at least that was the excuse my geordie mate told me after I was less than enthusiastic, after sampling a brew. That was after the inital outburst of "That's fightin talk mun".

I can get it at my local grocers, tastes good to me mate :D

In the words of James Hatfield.."BEEEER GOOOOOD"

Ken, I think if its in a bottle its OK, the pint that had was on tap and it was definitely a taste to remember.
You should check out this song, Hillbilly High for a good ole country take on moonshine, great song.

They still have some moonshiners around in Kentucky and Tennessee :DAnd in Virginia, from whence my jar came.

Didn't they use that stuff on the Apollo projects?

My Irish step-son once brought me a jar of poteen - that's Irish moonshine - and while I can pretty much keep up with him if we're on "the black stuff" or lager, the poteen was powerful stuff - too much for me....

I've always wanted to try the southern moonshine - since I saw "White Lightning" (or was it "Gator?") - the old Burt Reynolds film....I seem to remember him holding the jar on his shoulder - is there a reason for that, or was it just to look good?

Oh and Smokindog - was that what your relative had been drinking when he appeared in "Deliverance?"

:D :D :D

That was my brother-in-laws uncle who played The guy that said "Boy...you done took a wrong turn" to Ned Beaty. Probably was drinking moonshine (white lightning).

BTW the really good quality moonshine is much smoother than anything you can buy legally. The good stuff tastes pretty much like water with a bit of a charcoal aftertaste. Then after about 30 seconds you feel it in your gut and your head starts swimming   Its what southern gents call sipping whiskey
