Congratulations, Alan, that's a real achievement!
Do we now have to refer to you as "The Classically Distinctive Alan Green?" (As opposed to, say, "The Soulful Reverend Al Green.....")

Very cool, Alan!
With a score like that, are you planning to go on for the ALCM?
Thanks.
Yes, I'm sure I will. I need to come down first before I start thinking about what to do next and that could take some time.

"The only way I know that guarantees no mistakes is not to play and that's simply not an option". David Hodge
Congratulations :!: :!: :!:
Congrats. Way cool indeed!
I know that achieving this took some ability that is WAY over my skill set but I'm not sure that I understand, even at a high level, what it takes to reach a level of this distinction. Can you share a bit?
Teamwork- A few harmless flakes working together can unleash an avalanche of destruction.
Sure,
Chromatic, major, harmonic minor and melodic minor two-octave scales at around 160 half notes per minutes - so playing at 320 quarter notes per minute - in any key, three octaves from F# to A. One octave scales of G and E major in 3rds, 6ths, 8ths and 10ths at 80 half notes per minute. Two octave Major, minor, dominant 7th and diminshed 7th arpeggios in any key, three octaves from F# to A. One-octave scales in A Major in 4 different fingerboard positions. Chord of A Major in 4 different fingerboard positions
You play the scales i-m-i-m or m-a-m-a. The arpeggios are p-i-m-a-i-m-a-m-i-a-m-i-p. Chord are played p-p-i-m-a or p-p-p-i-m-a
A melodic study in 6 sharps.
Three performance pieces. I used these vids to help me with speed and phrasing -
Overture Op 6 Nr 1 - by Ferdinando Carulli - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hOosYEJDS4o
Soleares (flamenco piece, the second half of this vid) - by Joachin Turina - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UJUw8Czhr5I
Capricho Arabe - a very beautiful piece by Francisco Tarrega - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ThruwvV25nc
All from memory so far.
Some Music theory questions
Some aural tests (what key does this modulate to, what cadences are these) - at which I didn't do very well
and a sight reading piece - you get some music put in front of you which you've never seen before. You have a minute to look at it and work out how, and then you have to play it.
And you have to cope with the biggest attack of nerves you could possibly imagine.
