Sofar we have mainly performed collaboration jams with lead guitar playing (over backing tracks) and some very few with Bass guitar and no one (as I know of) with rythm guitar.

But Bass guitar and Rythm guitar is as important for a song as the lead guitar, but maybe not that flashy....

As I have now started to make backing tracks with drums (SW drum machine) , bass and rythm guitar then why not making different versions of the same "backing" track where the bass track or rythm guitar track is muted.
In this case Bass guitar and Rythm guitar players could be involved in collaboration jams on equal terms as the lead guitar players.
What do you think about this idea ?

Sounds like a good idea to me. I focus more on rhythm, so sounds perfect.

Kalle,

I like the idea. Maybe we could put together a complete original jam
with all part played by forum members.

I like the idea and would participate.

As a side note, at my lesson this week I was asking my instructor about where to find backing tracks like this so I could work on my rhythm playing. He mentioned some Jamey Abersold products.

Ok, I will prepare a backing track with drums and a simple bass and rythm guitar (just for showing the beat and chord progression).
Then I will "release" one backing with drums and bass and one backing with drums and rythm guitar.
The drum/bass backing should be used by rythm guitar players and the drum/rythm guitar backing should be used by bass players.
If there many interested bass/rythm players, I will probably divide a the song in parts but otherwise make some different mixes of the rythm and bass tracks I get.
Then we could invite solo/lead guitar players to make some lead guitar tracks to add in the mix.

Should we do simple 3 chord 12 bar blues song or a song with more complex chord progression.
I have an idea of making a song based on a chord progression version of Stormy Monday (G7 | C9 | G7/Aâ™7 | G7 | C9 | C9 | G7 / A minor7 | B minor7 / Bâ™ minor7 | A minor7 | C minor7 | G7 / C9 | G7 / D) in 90-100 bpm ( i little bit faster than the original).
Here is a lesson showing rythm guitar playing in T-Bone Walker style on a song similar to Stormy Monday.

Kalle, your suggestion about something like the Stormy Monday chord progression sounds good to me. I've been working on 7th and 9th chords. It would be great if I could put that to use.

Boogie
If you checked the lesson video, you will see that the G9 chord he is showing/playing is easier to "finger" than a G7 barre chord. You can substitute all "7" chords with "9" chords.
It will probably take me a week to make a first version of the backing track with drums, bass and rythm guitar.

Yeah... I did check out that video lesson. And those chords look like chords my instructor taught me :)

No rush on the track. I've got another jam I'm working on right now.

Here is the first version of the complete backing with drums, bass and rythm guitar.

Bass and drum track is here http://www.box.net/shared/qi6miebk00 and rythm guitar and drum track is here http://www.box.net/shared/1t2p3zz0gg
I did it slow (71BPM) as most versions of Stormy Monday are played in that way.
The 12 bar chord progression is my own version of Stormy Monday (G7 | C9 | G7/Aâ™7 | G7 | C9 | C9 | G7 / A minor7 | B minor7 / Bâ™7 | D9 | F9 | G7 / D9 | G7 )

I'd be up for taking part in the bass jam. Are we doing the whole track or just portions?

Peace

Hi David
You can start with the whole track.
If more bass players wants to join in I can either make several mixes or select the best parts (verses) from from each player and make a final mix.The 4 verses are identical and it should be possible to "cut and paste" between the parts.
I am very interest to hear your version, being a bass player beginner pupil of yours (your book is my "bible").
