Does anyone know who has done the most inductions? It seems like every year Keith Richards inducts at least one act
Immature? Of course I'm immature Einstein, I'm 50 and in a Rock and ROll band.

If anyone deserves it, The Ventures do.
Green Day !!!!
Green Day !!!!
Green Day will have to wait..I think a band has to be in the scene around 20 years before they are nominated. Personally I don't know why Jethro Tull has been forgotten.

I agree, Tull was a big influence to rock music
I love the Ventures, but have a hard time thinking of them as a Rock and Roll band. However, they are more so (IMHO) than Abba...
What about Rush!!?? Are you guys insane! They need to be in there more than anyone else!

I agree with Jethro Tull - and couldn't agree more about Rush.
Is there some kind of waiting period for eligibility? Is that why certains bands/artists haven't made it in yet?
I just looked at the website and didn't see any information about eligibility or the voting process...
I personally don't think Steppenwolf or The Guess Who should be in... they were good, but really only one or two songs have stood the test of time.... While Abba isn't rock and roll, I do think they had a big influence on music and are still a household name. Probably none REALLY belong, but since I don't know what the minimum qualifications are for induction, I can't say for sure whether these three should be there...

I have no idea so I'm not trying to be annoying, but what has Abba's influence been?
I didn't know ABBA had any influence...I don't know what the criteria is but unless it's strictly record sales I can't think of anything else they contributed and that just goes to show you that record sales does not equal good music.
And let's not even talk about the whole "Rock n Roll" Hall of Fame. Half the artists in there wouldn't be considered rock n roll especially not ABBA.
They need to start their own "Pop and Other Lame Bands Hall of Fame" then they can be placed somewhere more fitting for their music.

It's a long way to the top if you want to rock n roll!
I'd be willing to bet Abba has had a big influence on pop music production. Maybe there's some influence on some modern bands, but I could come up only with The Cardigans as a possibility (a band I do like, BTW); had to search to find these:

Abba has become an obvious influence on Broadway and in Hollywood, especially on the campier elements.
Like them or not, Abba has had a cultural influence far exceeding that of many of our musical heros. R&RHoF? Probably irrelevant anyway.

And don't forget, abba sold a poop load of records. I think they may have passed even the fab four in total record sales at one time. :?
Britney Spears sold alot of records too!
gnease,
Pop production influence?

It was an off-the-cuff remark. I don't have empircal data to back it up. Just the fact that everyone living has heard of Abba and probably NOT heard of most of their contemporaries probably indiciates that they had some influence.
I agree 100% on the comment about the "rock and roll" hall of fame. Is it a "music" hall of fame, or Rock and Roll? And what constitutes RnR anyway? Use of a guitar? Tough question. I would think that it probably should have been named the Music Hall of Fame, but I think RnR Hall is more marketable.

RHCP. Been around long time. Had/has a lot of influence. Has Flea, John, Chad, Anthony...Are they in there?
