Any suggestions for a cheap electric guitar for travel? I don't gig, this is just for practice, and it doesn't need to look or sound great.

My current plan is to buy something like one of the cheap Squier Stratocasters, and then I can unbolt the neck and toss it in my luggage... It might need a bit of tweaking afterward, but that's why I'm not doing that to my real Strat.

So... Has anyone tried the $99 Squier Bullet? Any other suggestions for a guitar for about $100 with a bolt-on neck? If it were actually playable that would be nice...

I know there are "real" travel guitars, but most are $300 or so and don't have the option of removing the neck to make them even smaller.

My son has a Squire Mini Strat that I bought for him when he was 7. I think it is the same as the "Bullet" but I don't think it was called "Bullet" back then. It's black with a white pickguard. I have to say it plays remarkably well for a small $99 guitar. I'll probably never sell it even though he's outgrown it.
