Does anyone have any favorite guitar/music related movies/documentaries? Something with a plot line and not an instructional movie. I recently saw Crossroads with Ralph Macchio and it was pretty funny and the cutting heads contest at the end was cool with Steve Vai. Just wondering if anyone else had any favorites.

both documentary style and not really about "guitars" but close enough for me.
others in the mix would be more "concert" type movies or concert/documentary like

Roadhouse featured Jeff Healey playing in it (in between scenes of Patrick Swayze getting beaten to a pulp).
Or if you want documentaries, there's these 7 films that Martin Scorsese produced exploring the history of the blues. Lots of performances and interviews.
Another that I saw recently is Festival express which follows a travelling festival as it crosses Canada on a chartered train in the '70s. Janis Joplin, Greatful Dead, The Band, Buddy Guy and lots more in this one.

"Hail hail Rock And Roll"
The story of the lead up to Chuck Berry's 60th Birthday concert. Great footage of Chuck rehearsing (and fallng out in a nice way) with Keith Richards. Fantastic music and a great lineup at the actual concert including Eric Clapton.
Good talk from Keith too, who idolises Chuck.

The guitar is all right John but you'll never make a living out of it! (John Lennon's Aunt Mimi)
Along the lines of the Berry film (which is great): Blue Suede Shoes: Carl Perkins and Friends with Harrison and Clapton and Ringo. Very low key but superb.
Well we all shine on--like the moon and the stars and the sun.

This is Spinal Tap probably qualifies.
