Keeping the Music alive

I dont know how life could be w/o music (especially guitars) I'm always looking for good deals on equipment. I play my sister plays, she's recently bought her son an electric guitar and hes lovin' it and now my youngest son wants to play.....just wondering is their an age that is too young to begin understanding all the concepts w/o getting frusrtated and quitting, I'd love to get my baby started , but this stuff doenst come cheap!! Just looking for some insight.
