Well, this isn't a band, but it's something that I think is one of the most beautiful musical arrangements I've ever heard. I got tuened on to it from the movie Hannibal, staring Anthony Hopkins. It's called Vide Cor Meum. Enjoy!

Oh, and if this doesn't qualify me as having, um, eclectic(?) musical tastes, I don't know what will.

Dude all I can say is thank you for making me aware of that piece of music. Wow. Intense, I love finding pieces like that that seem to just move your soul.

Don't sweat it dude, just play!

Ah, the Sweet - as mentioned by Blueline. I LOVED the Sweet! They were probably the most un-hip, uncool band in the history of rock'n'roll - the god-awful clothes, the even more godawful haircuts (and this was the 70's remember!) the fact that the bass player wore lipstick and hot-pnats....they were just so naff!

And yet - every single they put out, you found yourself humming along to it - or even singing to it, in the privacy of your bedroom - "Little Willy Willy won't, won't go, but you can't push willy round, Willy won't go...."

"Does anyone know the way....."

etc etc etc.....

Ear-worms? yes. Do I still sing along when one of their oldies comes on the radio?

Yes........

"Little Willy Willy won't, won't go, but you can't push willy round, Willy won't go...."

'Bout time we had that one in easy songs, eh?

:D :D :D

Oh Vic !

And you lambasted me for unashamedly admitting to liking "Smokie"

Well I used to like "The Rubettes" as well silly caps and all.

Say No More!

ps
Well I loved "Blockbuster" by the Sweet. Great song.

LOL

My pleasure, Spides. I'm just glad to not be alone on that one. :)

OK, so I had a look at this The Sweet band on You Tube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3iHFizLOh_E Now I remember that Willy Won't Go song. Good luck getting it out of my head today.

Dig the 70's in that clip though. The guitarist on the far left is wearing Lt. Dangle shorts from Reno 911. Members of the dancing audience should be entering litigation right now to make up for a lifetime of embarrasment. Especially that dude who's dancing with his date, but she's summarily ignoring him to watch the pixies up on stage. (Might remind some of you about your honeymoons?  )

The keyboard player with the Rubettes - Pete Arnesen, I think his name was - ended up in Ian Hunter's band after Mott The Hoople split. I know he played on Hunter's first solo LP and on "Once Bitten Twice Shy."

Another useless bit of pop trivia for you......

Nothing at all to be ashamed of in liking the Tubes except perhaps that they made their music after "the golden age and everything turned to crap."

Some would argue that this is from the time after which they sold out. Their earlier stuff was full of great social commentary.

I would suggest that What do you want from life? is perhaps one of their best. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y_-DI8TsuCg

Tried for a mix, as I like both the old (okay -- really, really old) and the new (merely old as in Attack of the 50 ft Woman, Sushi Girl) Tubes -- that is except for She's a Beauty. Considered What Do You Want From Life but somehow didn't find a good version. Yours works; thanks for adding it.

I can't really say I have any bands I'm afraid to admit I like. I used to listen to weird stuff growing up. Japanese stuff, music written for video games such as http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uEzXFuYN89k that my tastes are probably more "normal" now. I do get the occasional "You like Avril Lavigne and Beach Boys but you don't like Stevie Ray Vaughan." which is normally followed but a remark that I'm weird. I don't really care though, if I was worried about fitting in I'd would have accepted such normals as listening to Jimi Hendrix and wearing underpants. When I was a kid, liking stuff everyone else like wasn't something I did. I think it was because if no one else liked it, it was my music. Now whatever sounds good to my ears I like.

For the skimmers: I like weird stuff. I have no shame. I have no modesty. Ahh brisk............

Yeah but...wait a minute. SRV is like Sara Lee...(their old tag line used to be "Nobody doesn't like Sara Lee") Not liking SRV or Jimi is against my religion. Therfore you have blasphemed. You are a sinner. You MUST be converted.

I have been going commando now unnofficially for 4 years but officially for three.
It's great to see a girl doing the no underpants thing tho, most girls I know don't seem to get it, and are a little repulsed at the idea of doing it themselves "But what if i see a really hot guy and get an embarrassing wet patch?" Is an actual quote from a friend. "Ah how vulgar" Was my response to said quote.

Kudos for the underpants thing, underpants are to men what bras were to 1960's feminists, shackles impeding our ability to run free and prosper, it's good to see you showing your respect for our struggle.

*edit p.s. totally amped that you put up that sonic track, I spent so many hours playing that game in high school, wondering who did the music.

Don't sweat it dude, just play!

Some Band You're Afraid to Admit Into Your Underwear -- or lack thereof?

This topic seems to be coming up a lot lately -- almost as polarizing as religion and politics.
