Johnny Cash did a great version of U2's One on his CD American III - Solitary Man.

It's not really a cover song but for a good laugh, I recommend the parody of Big Balls by Hayseed Dixie. Which was originally performed by AC/DC.

I've got a lot of good ideas. Trouble is... most of them suck!

My 2 favorite covers are Jeff Becks cover of Stevie Wonder's Superstition- and SRV's cover of Little Wing

Immature? Of course I'm immature Einstein, I'm 50 and in a Rock and ROll band.

IIRC from the book Crazy Legs, Beck's version was the original done in collaboration with Wonder, but Wonder decided to redo it and released his second version (sans Beck) as the "original" we all know.

Beck's Goodbye Porkpie Hat is a great cover of the Mingus original.

The best cover I've ever heard was not recorded, and it's probably lost forever.

I was at a Cowboy Mouth show in Minneapolis the day that Joey Ramone died.

They came out on stage and opened the show with an extended cover of I Wanna Be Sedated that was just outstanding.

It was an inspired performance that was brilliant in every way possible. To bad no one had a recorder running off the board :(

It's good to see the Clash showing up so often on the list.

Call me the breeze - Lynyrd Skynyrd ( J.J. Cale )
Dreams I'll never see - Molly Hatchet ( Allman Bros. )
Crossroads - Cream ( Robert Johnson )
My Way - Frank Sinatra ( Paul Anka )
Take it easy - Eagles ( Jackson Browne )

If I claim to be a wise man , it surely means that I don't know .

9 Comfortably Numb - Scissor Sisters, 2004

Does anyone actually like this cover? I was on a concert with them, and left halfway through... :?

Yeah, I do. It's a very clever remake.

I still like the original better, but I like what they did with the song.

I didn't like the Comfortably Numb cover at all. Perhaps it is because I'm a diehard Pink Floyd fan and believe it is asinine to remake their songs....which is why I absolutely hate Korn and Limp Bizkit or however you kids spell that....--laughs 'cause she's only 15-- :P

Anyway, don't remake Pink Floyd and everything is okay. I really liked Jimi Hendrix's remake of Bob Dylan's "All Along the Watchtower" though. Glad it made #1 :D

There's nothing better than classic rock. Don't argue.
