I just ordered a tab book of John McLaughlin, Mahavishnu Orchestra.
I'm thinkin' maybe I could actually try some of his stuff.

I love the disonance.

Loved the album Birds of Fire ever since it came out.
One of the few albums I can say I've owned in in vinyl, cassette & CD.

Maybe I'm just mental........We'll see.

Anybody familiar with "Birds of Fire?"
I get those songs stuck in my head once in a while....can't get em out.

Is it a lot like Visions of the Emerald Beyond? Have had that in my collection for 30 years, but haven't played it recently.

I'm not too familiar with most of his stuff....just maybe four albums....three real old & one new.

Birds of Fire is where I first heard him.

i thought that album was amazing when i heard it. john mclaughlin is incredible. miles davis named a song after him. good luck. his stuff is definitely not for beginners. i know if i tried to tackle it, i'd give up after about 5 minutes.
also, it's grandeur.

Thanks for the spelling tip Jason.

I'll need quite a little bit of luck.
I thought it may be another way of learning dimished type riffs; one I can relate to.
