Hi,
I've done a bunch of different searches but I really haven't found anything like this.

I seem to have a problem with resonance to the point that I feel like I can't hear myself singing/I don't feel any vibrations in my head and this is when I'm just practicing by myself in my room. I feel like I have to stick my fingers in my ears sometimes just to hear myself. I guess the best way to explain it is like when you are in a closed bathroom and the acoustics sound great/you can really hear yourself, but when I'm out in the open (any normal room), I seem to struggle with this.

Are there any tips or techniques I can use to be able to resonate better/counteract this? I've been singing into a microphone recently and it helps but obviously I can't do this every time.

Thanks,
Adam

I do a warm up exercise that makes my whole head vibrate. if you try this and don't feel a vibration in your head,
then see a ears nose throat specialist.
the exercise is simple.
instead of singing one hums the notes of the the 'do re me' scale.
I start with a low C on my guitar. I hum the scale, then pluck C sharp and repeat. then pluck D and repeat.
go all the way up the scale until you hit the next octave of C.
you can start anywhere and go as high as you want.
once reaching the top I go back down.
all the time I am humming. I feel a vibration in my nose and eventually my whole head.
remember to use the diaphragm, pushing the air up from the stomach. and take a breathe often otherwise you will get light headed.

Thank you for this! I did see a specialist and they said nothing was wrong so I'm assuming that it's my technique that is off. I've been humming scales a lot lately and really focusing on feeling the sensation. One follow-up question: How much vibration do you feel when you hum? Like do you feel it in your cheeks/forehead or just mouth/nose area?

my nose gets most of the vibration. if you experience a broader area; all the better.
best wishes.
