Can anyone recommend a beginners guide book to slide playing? Tried a slide out for the first time at the beginning of the week, now I'm hooked!

Any suggestions much appreciated!

Hank

there are many tutorials on youtube. actually, I find they are better than a book. the visuals help.

Dogbite's probably right about video tutorials. I've never used one. I learned most of what I know from interviews in Guitar Player magazine with Ry Cooder and Sonny Landreth -- I still have them, and if I can find the issues I will post months/years of publication. "Arlen Roth's Complete Acoustic Guitar" is good, if it's still available -- all the techniques transfer to electric.

And you might try searching this forum for specific questions. We have some pretty good teachers here.

I picked up some DVD from I think Guitar world a few years ago. It was real basic. Listed a few diferent tunings, and a few simple riffs, and a basic teaching on how to. It was realy basic as I said... but was a great start. After that I just messed with a few tabs with slide in them and messed with it. Got the intro to "In my time of dying" from Zep down pretty fast on the lap steel.

Sorry its taken me a while to reply, being kinda hectic my end...

Thanks for all the awesome suggestions, if you are able to find issue numbers that would be greatly appreciated, and will definitely check out youtube and the books you have all recommended. Currently playing Scar Tissue by RHCP with the slide in the solo - sounds pretty cool but hoping to develop my technique.

Hope everyone had a good new year!
