A friend on another forum suggested I try out Open D# next. What's the tuning and which string or strings do I tune differently?

Just Open D with every string tuned up a half step. Not a different tuning, just a bit higher pitch.

Open D being DADF#AD, it would then be D#A#D#GA#D#. Nuisance to type it out.

Open E again is the same tuning pitched a bit higher. EBEAbBE

Learn something in one of those tunings, and it plays exactly the same in all. It's just in a new key because all the strings are retuned.

You might also try calling it by its real name: Eb tuning.

Calling it D# means the notes in the key are:

D#-E#-Fx (F-double sharp)-G#-A#-B#-Cx-D#

It's a lot easier to name them

Eb-F-G-A-Bb-C-D-Eb
