I've watched Live Aid too. I tried to catch as much performances as possible, I stayed up to about 3 am for it =/ I surely hope the G8 will do something about it, but there are more rich countries...
there is a girl
lying on the floor
unable to walk
she's 5 years of age
there is a boy
walking down the street
with his belly thick
maybe he should eat?
don't close your eyes
but make it happen
you can make a difference
start showing that you care
now if that girl
manages to grow up
she's got miles to walk
only for some water
for the boy the same
once he is some older
there won't be a school
or another chance to grow
don't close your eyes
but make it happen
you can make a difference
start showing that you care
that boy and girl
don't stand a chance
on their own
but together
we can give them a life
don't close your eyes
but make it happen
you can make a difference
start showing that you care
it's only a rough draft, and titelless, but I'm going on vacation tomorrow so it had to be done today. I'll work it out once I'm back :)
Karla,
Good start,
The verses could use a little fleshing out but I like the
way you handled the subject. Don't change a bit of what
I'm reading as the chorus;
don't close your eyes
but make it happen
you can make a difference
start showing that you care

Hi Karla,
yeah good start. What I like about this song is this the way you develop the characters from childhood to adulthood, and how each has its own version of poverty. Having a boy and girl is nice balance and bringing them together in the last verse works well. Good work :D , I look forward to seeing the final version.

I have to disagree with Celt on this one, I really don't think the verses need any more fleshing out...there's a stark, simplistic desperation about them that, for me, manages to capture the essence of the assignment almost perfectly...
I could see this done very slowly with minimal backing, something in the style of Peter Gabriel's "Don't give up"....
Nice work, Karla!!!
:D :D :D
