Hello to all.
I can't remember if a "new year" at the Sunday Songwriters Group has ever started on November 1 before now. Not that it really means anything, it's just interesting.
Seeing that this is the start of "Year 14" (is that even possible? - wow!), it makes sense to kick off our new year with writing a musical sonnet.
Why a sonnet? Because the classic version of a sonnet is fourteen lines long. If we use the Shakespearean sonnets as guides, then you'll also find that the sonnet structure breaks down nicely into three four-line stanzas with a couplet tacked on to the end, which is perfect for many song styles. Typically the rhyme scheme will break down as :
A
B
A
B
C
D
C
D
E
F
E
F
G
G
Bonus points if you can make each line ten syllables long!
As always, I look forward to reading and to listening to what you may come up with.
Peace
