LIFE'S NOT FOREVER

You can’t see me, you can’t hear me anymore
you can’t feel me put my arms around you like I’ve done a hundred times before
and I wish there was some way I could tell you some way to help you understand
the reason I had to leave you but there’s no way that I can
so hold me in your heart and never let me go
remember the time I told you there are things you would never know
and you’ll never know a day without my love
though we find ourselves apart
and there will never be a place that you will go
where you can’t take my heart
I’m with you for always though forever is never more
I’ll be with you in more ways than I could ever be before
and I know in your loneliness you’ll wonder where I am
and I wish I could tell to help you understand
that life is not forever and forever never seems to end
and love is a gift that I give to you to help your broken heart mend
so go forward with your life
and live forever and a day
don’t hesitate in what you do
and share your love with whom you may
though you may hesitate for a moment
wondering what it is I might say
I’d tell you how much I love you
and now it’s time to be on your way
life is not forever and forever never seems to end
and love is a gift that I give to you to help your broken heart mend
A very nice song. There are a couple of lines where the meaning seems vague to me.
"I’m with you for always though forever is never more" I think that you're saying that the couple thought they had forever. Now they obviously dont. What do you think of this slight change? "I’m with you always though our forever is never more" That's kind of a mouth full. How about "I’m with you always though our forever is no more?"
"that life is not forever and forever never seems to end
and love is a gift that I give to you to help your broken heart mend"
Those two lines seem to go in circles. How is the singer giving a gift by leaving? Maybe the problem for me is that he gives no hint anywhere about why he left. Maybe I'm missing the whole point. Is the singer dead? Did he commit suicide? Is that why he can't tell her anything?

"I’m with you always though our forever is no more?"
Good point and your suggested line is an easy and great fix.
"that life is not forever and forever never seems to end
and love is a gift that I give to you to help your broken heart mend"
I guess I wanted to say that while life ends, living without the one you love goes on forever, and, yes, the person is dead.
Thanks so much for the read, comments, and your suggestions.

Very nice. I enjoyed it. It's soft and thought provoking.
Thanks, John
