Ok so this was inspired by the picture i found in my box of pictures of one of my good friends, and it wasnt the pictureitself it was the story that went with it my friends mom and dad both died from drug addictions and i figured id use that as my inspiration. I wouldnt have thought of it had i not seen her picture. For all those looking for the recording it can be found on my myspace the link is in my signature or you can go here http://www.myspace.com/spencerbeasley

Addiction copywrite Spencer Beasley 2005
Walls built up with plaster of cocaine
No doors no windows just him and his pain
a lone picture in a room hanging by a nail
a constant reminder of how he forgot to care
they say a picture can invoke
a thousand simple words
but a picture weaves emotional strings
that can bring happiness or hurt

So as he lies there in his plastered state
with no one by his side
he glances over at the wall
to see his daughters crying eyes

Passed out at the bottom of a long empty stairwell
A heroine addiction stole her balance as she fell
a long standing problem she hasnt told a soul
so the sirens blare shes been found out let the truth be told
a sharp pain in her wrist
the stiching in her side
she winces as she struggles
to open both her eyes

and as she lies there and her broken and bruised state
she thinks no one is by her side
as she turns her head the other way
she looks into her daughters crying eyes

walls built up of heroine and cocaine
no doors no windows inside of their...graves

Beans,

Very Good I like how you tell the Mother's and
Father's separately. If you were to add a bridge
I would make it the daughter's story something
like:

"And what does she behind those eyes...................."

One thing stands out for me. You use the word plaster in
the first line of the first verse and then plastered in the first
line of the chorus.

You might consider changing one of them or not.
They just seem a little close together to me.

Hi Beans,
this is great :D , well structured and well told. I was there all the way to end, which is the way it should be with a good song. Well done.
cheers

Wow Beans.. Awsome stuff. I really dig this type of song. A story told, emotional. I do agree that it would be great if you could fit in the daugters perspective, even if it was just a short.. Any way to record or tab it?

the reason i did that is cuz it represents cocaine, it was a different way of saying he was strung out or high, he was plastered and the walls made up of plaster cocaine but ill take the suggeston in mind and i love the idea of incorporating a daughter verse into it i think i might do it at the end where i have the grave line i may have her asking them kind of at there funeral thign why and have her saying theres no doors or no windows inside there graves

First, and it's only a tiny quibble, "plastered" to a Brit means very drunk....I've never heard it used in context with drugs.....

Second, that's a bloody good mp3 mate....the lyrics look OK written down, but you've got a good clear voice, and you put them across well -

Third, I still think you sound very much like the singer from "Counting Crows" back in the 90's - not a bad thing, I enjoyed what little of their stuff we got to hear on the radio in the UK, but it's so similar, you might want to think about changing your voice slightly....(I'd love to hear you do a version of "Mr Jones" just for comparison....)

Fourth, very nice guitar playing....you use a capo on this one?

Very enjoyable, mate, good song, beautifully done....

:D :D :D

yea i used a capo two and some extremely weird chords such as(relative to capo)
x5056x
x3056x
6x056x and
8x078
for the verse and the chorus used chords such as
x8x088
87x088
x1023x
then for the little slide manuver i do its the hird fret on the b and d strings slid to the fifth fret

pretty simple really not to complex compared to somethigns i do

Hey Beans,

I would love to listen to you songs some more but
most of the time when I try your myspace page
all I get is teh headers and a blank page.

I've tried several times and only got the page twice.

Do you know anything about this?
