Hey gang,

I know we were supposed to be more overt this week, but when I got the idea to write a song about colours that doesn't use any colours I couldn't help myself. After last week's kiss-off song, I thought this week should be a love song in the John Donne school of romantic poetry: go big or go home.

Lots left to be done on this one: I could twiddle with it for weeks and still not get the exact pictures I was aiming for; some of the lines have too many syllables for my melody (hence no recording this week); and it sorely needs a bridge. However, any input regarding images or wording or anything is most welcomed.

Colours

Running with you through sunny fields of daisies
Your hue glowing in the the petals
It's you that makes afternoon last long into evening

Not a cloud in the sky but I fail to find
The shade of your eyes quite duplicated
As hard as I try I can't get them right so I toss away my canvas

I can't paint the winter of your skin
Can't paint the summer of your soul
You just light up your surroundings

What colour is a storm at midnight?
Couldn't see a thing 'til you burned in my eyes
Now everything's just reflecting your light
Wishing they could shine like you

Fallen leaves line the trails we're strolling through
We climb the hill, blend with the view
Is it you or did the sunset seem to blush a little deeper?

I can't paint the winter of your skin
Can't paint the summer of your soul
Til you smile at my feeble tries

You're the colour of snow by moonlight
A summer sunrise that burns in my eyes
Beautiful seasons brought to life
When you walked through my world

Ice cream is a dish best served cold.
