Hey all,

I tried a few things here, had some fun. Sorry about the start of the bridge, I just couldn't find my note while recording.

Every Eye
©2007 Robert Gowland

Every eye in this room
Is looking at me
I put the count at two
Eyes looking at me

And as the stare comes back
From the far side
Of that cold piece of glass
It lights the ugly things
The hopeful things
The should have beens

What do you want me to be?
What you get is what you see

Every eye in this room
Is looking at me
Like a self conscious chimp in your zoo
And you're looking at me

In this false habitat
You stay behind
Your one-way piece of glass
You see in me your dreams
Your failings, fears
Your own dark things

What do you want me to be?
What you get is what you see

We'll never see everything
Unless we're willing to be seen
We won't be willing to be seen
Unless we're willing to live unsafely
So step inside the cage with me
I'll pull the bars back
So you can step inside with me

Every eye in this room
Is looking at you
Everyone in this room
Is waiting for you

What do you want me to be?
What you get is what you see

Ice cream is a dish best served cold.

That's a pretty good piece of writing, Slowplay....I read it first, then listened to the mp3. Reads well, sounds better - didn't sound at all like I expected!

I particularly liked your phrasing on the mp3, especially this section.....

"And as the stare comes back
From the far side
Of that cold piece of glass
It lights the ugly things
The hopeful things
The should have beens"

and a similar section later - that's TIGHT meter!!!

I really enjoyed this one.....going to have another listen. On second thoughts, I think I'll download it. Gets a big thumbs-up from me!

:D :D :D

Here is to you as good as you are
And here is to me as bad as I am
As good as you are and as bad as I am
I'm as good as you are as bad as I am

Hey SP,

excellent piece of writing, I like the way the song transitions from the general to the particular and then again from the general to the personal at the end of each group.
Great mp3 too.

Cheers
Paul
