One Step Forward, Two Steps Back
I wake up with the blues
Almost every day
Why do I always feel this way?
I'm takin one step forward
And two steps back.
Well if you do unto others
They'll do you too
But not the things you want them to
Takin one step forward
And two steps back
Bridge
Everyone looks for that light in the tunnel
A little respite from all your trouble
Better get out the way
Better step back
That lights the train
Comin down the track
These days my troubles
Seem more than few
Because I'm facing them
Without you
Takin one step forward
And two steps back
Instrumental Verse
Repeat Bridge
I know when I get
To those pearly gates
Old St Pete's gonna
Make me wait
I'll be taking one step forward
And two steps back
Yeah baby one step forward
And two steps back.

Falling in love is like learning to play the guitar; first you learn to follow the rules, then you learn to play with your heart.

Nice Job!
I like the second verse
Well if you do unto others
They'll do you too
But not the things you want them to
The whole song has a nice bluesy feel to it.
It may be a little cliche in spots but in a way that's
OK because it gives a familiar feeling to the song.

I liked it alot. Excellent use of repetition.
Nice one Kathy,
Your lyrics are very believable. Would love to hear it when you record it.
Chris
I've added this to my soundclick page. Good friend Mike Roberto supplied the lead guitar part.

Kathy,
Sounds Great ! The arrangement really brings the lyrics to life.
It reminds me of a local favorite of mine Robin O'Herin
who coincidently has played Monterey General Store.
Mike's lead sounds awesome! Please pass that on to him.

Here is to you as good as you are
And here is to me as bad as I am
As good as you are and as bad as I am
I'm as good as you are as bad as I am
