This post was one of the many that was lost in the switch. I got around to writing the music to it a bit ago and then recorded it solo acoustic (there's more to it in the "full" version). I thought I'd put it up here and see what you guys thought.

"Everything's Eventual"

I met you in a dream one night
The kind that always ends too soon
And though I don't recall your face
I'll know you when I see you

Now I get this hopeless notion
When I go wandering down these streets
That just by chance I'll turn my head
And through the crowd our eyes will meet

(chorus)
And though it might seem trivial
I say that nothing's quite impossible
And all that's meant to happen will
Everything's eventual

And the years have passed, I'm older
Bent down beneath the weight of time
But I'll still know you when I see you
Even with these failing eyes

And as dark shadows hover over
This hopeless hope is all that's left
And if we never met in this life
Perhaps I'll see you in the next

(chorus)

(bridge)
And when the stars burn out and turn to dust
When all that is has ceased to be
When time has stopped and all goes black
There in the void our eyes will meet

Wow, that's really awesome. 8) I love the way the accompaniment is memorable yet simple and also creates a lot of tension.

I loved it. I listened to it several times over, and the music, if at all possible, was as exquisite as the lyrics. I sent it to my neighbor, who hasn't had time to hear it yet. But personally, I think this one outdoeas "Smoke and Mirrors.", and that was no mean feat. I really think your best work is in this "reflective / ambient / observation" vein. And this song lends credence to that idea. Really well done. You should be very pleased.
