The powers of this world they met
At something called the Earth summit
And in their hands, theirs to decide
Who shall live, and who could die
Nation after nation spoke
And all agreed with one another
Their hearts and minds united so
The poorest of the poor no longer suffer

This could be the year to make it happen
Our generations mark on time
That poverty finally be wiped out
If every country would fall in line

It came the turn of a superpower
To sign upon the dotted line
Too finally see beyond its boundaries
And care, as it claims all the time
Though they conquer via democracy
Can we believe what they decided
That in their interest this was not
Angels and demons never so divided

This could be the year to make the difference
Too feed each mouth, and no throat run dry
But the land of the free left in chains
Those that they see born to die
This choice without option
Leaves the beggar with an open hand
How those with so much, can give so little
My comprehension cannot understand

Find all you need in your mind, If you take the time

Spadge,

Nice to see you around again. I like this even though it gives
a somewhat negative view of our country.

Oh well, sometimes the truth hurts and I believe this is aimed at our
policy makers more than the people I hang with.

Good use of the assign words. The only place it seems
a little forced to me is the line:
Angels and demons never so divided

It may work with what you have in mind it just reads a bit
stiff to me.

Cheers Celt.

It does indeed swipe at the policy makers and not the people, I have a lodger with me at the moment from New York State, he's a good guy as were most Americans I met whilst in Atlanta a few years back.

I used the words Angels and Demons to depict Angels as the counsel members in favour and Demons as those against.
So the line should read as if those two opposites are very much divided on the subject at hand.

I realise the content is a little harsh, after reading other submissions it would seem a few people have drawn up political references with the words given.

Perhaps next week, we should have the following.

Fluffy Bunny
Land Of The Teletubby
Daisy Chain
Ring a ring a rosie

Surely there would be no conflict within the the context of that lot

Find all you need in your mind, If you take the time
