Haven't written anything for a while.....waaaaaay out of practise - so go easy with me this week people,
it's a slow blues because that's exactly the mood I'm in....
Anyway, it's good to be back amongst friends......

Old Clothes.

Wellllllll.............

I got this shirt hanging off of my back,
And these dirty worn out shoes,
And my jeans are about worn out,
So faded, they're no longer blue,
And this dirty overcoat,
Don't make the rain feel any less true....

I'm walking at the side of the road,
In my worn out clothes,
Nobody'll give me a ride,
That's the way it goes,
And I'll keep on walking,
Any old way the wind blows.

I got these worn-out clothes,
They're all I own,
I got an empty wallet,
And no place to call home,
I got the down-and-out blues,
And I'm soaked to the bone......

I've been feeling down,
And up seems a long long way away,
I ain't felt good,
For many a yesterday,
And feeling better,
Seems a longer way away.

:D :D :D

Welcome back to the writting Sir

Very " King of the Road " feel to this I got

I hope you know that ol Ditty from years ago
( The Proclaimers put a version of it which is one of my all time favourite remakes )

The more I read this the more I like it , I did stumble a bit with this part but no doubt when sang would be much better ..

"I ain't felt good, "

My old English teacher flog me for saying that :
AINT , AINT A WORD she would bellow ...

And finally Mr Lewis I can point out something that you have over looked and I have a great big smile on my face as I write this ...

Nobody'll give ne a ride

MMMM typo mate    ???

Like a very good writter in here is always telling me it only takes a minute to check your work before pressing submit

I'll let you off this time young man but we don't want this becoming a regular occurance ...

Your old mate
Hilch

I left a spelling mistake in there for you

Here is to you as good as you are
And here is to me as bad as I am
As good as you are and as bad as I am
I'm as good as you are as bad as I am

Hey Vic

Welcome back, hope you're recovery is proceeding apace.

Really good song - captures the mood very well. I got a 12 bar blues shuffle to go along with so easily.

Glad you're back

Great stuff

Bob

Welcome Back,

Rager Miller, 12 bar Blues. I'm getting a Dylanish feel for this
one. Mostly because of the lines:
And I'll keep on walking,
Any old way the wind blows.

Good Job! Nice to see you writing again

Typo duly noted and corrected - thanks, Hilch, I missed that one....although in my defence it was 3am and I was celebrating someone's bithday (in absentia) with copious amounts of alcohol while I was WRITTING...... :D :D :D

As for "ain't"....I just couldn't imagine doing a down-and-dirty blues song and using the word "haven't" instead - I'm a working class boy, maybe her Majesty might kick off the old work boots, plug in the telecaster and sing "One has not felt very good for quite some time now" but it just doesn't work for me.....

Originally this was going to be a straight 12-bar blues (in open G, still can't play a barre chord to save my life....) but thanks to John I'm getting more of a Dylanish vibe to it now - I may just have a go at recording it later, see how it comes out....

:D :D :D
