Ever think about heaven, or what may be past the sky? That thought is followed by the fact that your body is holding in your spirit so you can't get to the answer. It sucks.

Sometimes it's only the weight
That keeps holding me down.
The weight of this casing
That must be parted from my mind.
So I can fly.
So I can fly.

A calling to the skies is all this is.
I'm looking through the eyes of the flesh.
I'm trying to find the place of all creation.
Searching for the blue past all the rest.

Drawing in my curiosity.
What really lies past the clouds?
Held back by my mortality.
I just want to rise out of these crowds.
So I can fly.
So I can fly.

A calling to the skies is all this is.
I'm looking through the eyes of the flesh.
I'm trying to find the place of all creation.
Searching for the blue past all the rest.

I know I'm not alone.
But how, then, am I lost?
I don't want to roam
to end up where I'll rot.
A head full of this sight
Is all I can see.
The only way to go
Is to lose my body.

A calling to the skies is all this is.
I'm looking through the eyes of the flesh.
I'm trying to find the place of all creation.
Searching for the blue past all the rest.

Hey pierson :)

You are soooo right, it sucks. It sucks so much I just stopped believing and thought "HA-HA!" and pointed my finger at.. well, nothing (which is the problem...)

I think you did a great job here. I have a suggestion or two for you, put them to use if you like :)
The weight of this casing
I'm not a fan of using the same words too often, even though I do it all the time myself. But I think you might score higher if you used "The burden of this casing" here, I just thought it fit in nicely as a ..something I don't know what's called in english.. pun or wordplay or something somewhat similar somehow... erm
I’m looking through the eyes of the flesh.
I only suggest this because I have weird feelings for the word flesh.
Perhaps "I’m looking through the eyes of shape/form"? It's not as solid as flesh though, but it's the best I came up with :)

Really enjoyed the second verse, mortality is such a great word.

man:)

I liked the flesh line. Flesh is kind of mysterious and eye popping but I agree with MOTS on "The weight of the casing" Doesnt come through for me. But I dont have any suggestions so.. who am I?

Again.. Peirson, back when I started coming to this group and reading your lyrics, I have always been a fan. Something about your style gets me and this one is no different. Might need a tid tad work but man you are on.

I like the "burden of this casing" better. I think I'll change it. "Casing" is the body, didn't really want to repeat it so i changed it to casing after the song was writin. I think I'll keep "flesh" because I have no other word for the mortal body. Thanks for being a fan, geoo! It means a lot to me!

Hi pierson

This is a nice piece of writting one thing that I was a little worried about was the repeated lines ,
"So I can fly.
So I can fly."

but after I read it a few times they fit really well if nothing else I wanted more around the final verse leading into the last chorus .

But this is really good mate

cheers
