Hey all. Hi David and James!

Dropped by to see what was happening and was intrigued by David's topic.
Got two verses so far . . . any contributions is appreciated.

Whatever happened to my memory?

Whatever happened to my memory?
My remembering isn’t so good
Central processing is faulty and
Data retrieval isn’t fetching like it should.

I spend a lot of time looking
For things that aren’t where they ought
And then making matters worse,
What I was looking for I forgot

It's the rock that gives the stream its music . . . and the stream that gives the rock its roll.

Hi Ken,

I was thinking about including you in this week's song.....Whatever happened to Ken?

Regarding your start on the lyrics, you have some technological references in verse 1, so it could be personification of an out of date computer.....verse 2 could be the makings of Alzheimer's or senility.....or a person with Alzheimer's who thinks they are a computer.......or a computer who thinks it is a person with Alzheimer's.......

or.....loss of memory seems to bit talked a lot about in jokes, you could turn a joke into a song.

Nice to see you posting here again

James

Thanks, James
I'll see if I can make more computer references.

Here's a third verse:

And more than once it’s happened
Upon walking through a door
I forget why it was that I came here
And go back to remember what for.

It's the rock that gives the stream its music . . . and the stream that gives the rock its roll.

Maybe have the singer not remembering if they broke up with someone or not.....and maybe the response being "no, we never were together"

......It depends on how you want to work it....in one sense it can be funny, but in another, I know my grandmother is "losing it" at 94....not remembering family members....it's sad to see.

Hey, there's too much truth in this . . . yes, it is sad.

I’m thinking I need an upgrade
More memory, more storage, more RAM
I fear if this downgrade continues
I won’t remember who I am

It's the rock that gives the stream its music . . . and the stream that gives the rock its roll.

I don't know how to make it fit the computer theme, but you could mention forgetting the words to a song.

Thanks, Hobson

That could make a fifth verse . . . and then repeat the first verse . . . as a chorus?

I'm thinking of stealing "All Along the Watchtower" as the tune.

Whatever happened to my memory?
My remembering isn’t so good
Central processing is getting faulty and
Data retrieval not fetching like it should.

I spend a lot of time looking
For things that aren’t where they ought
And complicating matters even further,
What I was looking for I forgot

And more than once it’s happened
Upon walking through a door
I forgot why it was that I came here
And go back to remember what for.

I’m thinking I need an upgrade
More memory, more storage, more RAM
I fear if this downgrade continues
I won’t remember who I am.

There’s another verse to this
That my memory cannot find,
Which serves as another example,
That I’m slowly losing my mind

Whatever happened to my memory?
My remembering isn’t so good
Central processing is getting faulty and
Data retrieval not fetching like it should.

It's the rock that gives the stream its music . . . and the stream that gives the rock its roll.

Hi Ken,

Good start on the rhymes......seems to need a bit more focus though.....Who is the singer? a person or a computer? if person than the computer references don't mesh, if a computer, then "walking out the door" verse should stick with "techie" references

Also consider glitchy effects like stuttering......"Data retrieval not fetching like it sh-sh-sh-should."....or instead of reference to life's a b*tch....life's a glitch and then you die.....and other replacement words for B*

maybe a reference to error messages, or feeling "blue-screened"......

............make it an excuse to resort to humming for a verse....then cut into the verse....now where was I and repeat the opening lines a few times.........

.................as if rebooted or not remembering it was in a song....

...and build a climax to the meaning of life line....then shut down....

...............or refer to an obscure reference like "hitch hiker's guide"........"42" yes, definitely "42"....unless it's "24"

Some clever ideas, James, especially the stuttering.
I'll have to play with it and see if I can pull it off.
Thanks for the input (no pun intended).

I enjoyed reading this thread. Perhaps a line about evil erasing magnets.
