This week we were told to talk about a relationship that you have with someone... and it shouldn't be the usual - and well, hell - who am I to be usual?
My Inner Voice
It's Four Forty-Five and the clock seems to stop
only fifteen more minutes till I'm gone.
We've been stuck here on a Friday with a twelve hour shift
since the boss installed this stainless steel timeclock.
Watching seconds pass like hours as my temper slowly builds
and I want to punch this timepiece in it's face!
"Just put your hands on five and twelve and get me on my way!"
I scream as beside my head I hear a little "hiss".
I turn my head quite rapidly and my brow begins to arch
because there's a mini-me floating in the air!
"You better respect the company equipment, little man!"
says the figment of my image-a-na-tion.
"Who the heck are you?" I question a confused look on my face
"I'm you, you oaf - I mean seriously, don't you recognize your clothes?"
"Look man, I'm your inner voice and I finally made it out...
Of that space between your ears you call a brain.
And if you don't wake up this very second and head out,
you're going to miss your Friday morning train!"
**ALARM CLOCK GOES OFF**
SOB!
Hi Shawn
Interesting and unique take on the assignment - well done
I like the imagery of punching the clock that stands out well.
Just kind of loses its way when you introduce the mini me. The idea of an argument with your inner self is interesting I just wonder whether it could be the angel on your shoulder, or the voice insde your head rather than mini me.
Good imaginaive stuff though
