Hi all

Not sure about a title for this amusing little ditty.... also maybe someone can help me with the chorus and bridge as I'm stuck in a bit of a rut at the moment with my music... Just realised that it sounds a bit (a lot) like the chord progression for Prince's Rasberry Beret - and he uses the same chords on the chorus as the verses...

The Message (she's not for me)

(D)Met Gina on Sunday when (G) skies were blue
(C)I bought her a Coke and I had (D)one too
(D) As soon as I saw her I (G) fell in love
(C) Then I received a message from (D) above

Met Sandra on Monday walking through the park
Our dogs met first when they started to bark
As soon as I saw her I fell in love
Then I received a message from above

How do the heavens know she's not for me
Always have to run under the nearest tree
From the start of the day until the sun that sets
The rain starts to pour and we get soaking wet

Met Lucy on Tuesday standing in a queue
Waiting for a cab, nothing else to do
As soon as I saw her I fell in love
Then I received a message from above

Met Sally on Wednesday she was in a crowd
Watching the match and shouting out loud
As soon as I saw her I fell in love
Then I received a message from above

How do the heavens know she's not for me
Always have to run under the nearest tree
From the start of the day until the sun that sets
The rain starts to pour and we get soaking wet

Met Lisa on Thursday passed her in my car
Had the roof down I wasn't going that far
As soon as I saw her I fell in love
Then I received a message from above

Met Kim on Friday she had bright red lips
Wearing dark glasses watching the eclipse
As soon as I saw her I fell in love
Then I received a message from above

Don't you think it's time... Can't I make up my own mind...
Maybe I need to go to a far off land, sun all day and a sea of sand.

(single strums) Saturday came and I stayed in bed
All that rain had gone straight to my head
My voice was lost but the clouds had gone
I couldn't talk to my girl only if I had one
(I couldn't ask a girl out even if I saw one)

How do the heavens know she's not for me
Always have to run under the nearest tree
From the start of the day until the sun that sets
The rain starts to pour and we get soaking wet

Thanks for reading.

Rock on!

Hey Dylan,

   Nice one! That's an interesting topic if someone misinterpreted rain or a normal reoccurring event as a message from above.

An ironic side note "The Message" is the title of one of the newest modern translations of the Bible.

Thanks James. Call me old-fashioned, but I prefer the original message to the new fangled translation...
