She’s too young for ring-shaped bruises
Too young to fake a break
Too young for midnight visits
She’s too young to fist punch demons
Too young for alcohol
Too young to have no future
Pre-chorus
Doing the best she can
Doing the best she can living
Chorus
Dog years
Dog years
Dog years
How long can she last living
Dog years
Dog years
Dog years
Growing up way too fast living
Dog years
She’s too young to wear lipstick
Too young to wear tight skirts
Too young to dance for strangers
She’s too young to walk in high heels
Too young to work the streets
Too young to be wiping her tears on grimy sheets
pre-chorus
chorus 2x
That is dark and hopeless. At first I thought that it needed a verse to hint at what the future will be for her, but it's pretty obvious that things aren't going to get better.
I can hear this as a blues song with a sax solo.
An interesting metaphor with the double meaning of living a dog's life and growing up too fast and living a short life.

Hi Rene,
That is dark and hopeless.
Well, then it worked. :)
It's not that far of a stretch to have those in prostitution come from dysfunctional families. There are often sad stories like this featured in the news here in Bangkok.
An interesting metaphor with the double meaning of living a dog's life and growing up too fast and living a short life.
Thanks for the feedback. That was the crux of the song, so if it hadn't come across, it would have been a wipe out.
Thanks for the listen and post. :D
