I've been trying to finish this song during a very hectic week of family health issues, broken down car, power failure, and phone line going out. Whew! That sounds like a song right there. Also I've had a cold, so had to drop this a step and a half from what I originally had. But it's at least tentatively done.

verse:
I found your photo in black and white.
You could be my ancestral twin.
In beads and tie dye in nineteen sixty-nine.
I wonder how you fit in.
verse:
Are you someone the family only mentioned
In whispers behind closed doors?
Was the silence due to love or vengeance?
What were you banished for?
chorus:
Time is suspended in black and white,
Your eyes looking far away.
Why have you stayed out of sight?
Where are you today?
verse:
Maybe someone is willing to talk
About your place on the family tree.
But I'll put your photo back in the box,
A memento not meant for me.
chorus

Hi Rene,
Sorry to hear about your difficult times. :?
I like this song a lot. It has a couple of phrases that are coming out a bit awkward, but that might just be b/c it's new to you.
I like the conversation feel of talking to the stranger/family member? in the photo.
I like to how the idea is unresolved.
Thanks for sharing.
James
James, thanks. I like it a lot too. (No, I don't always like my own songs.) I need to do a better recording. I was in a hurry and this was only my second take. With practice, I think I can make those awkward lines fit better.
