=======UPDATED VERSION===========
Y7W45 Faith Like a Child
It was time for bed; time to read and pray
“Forget it!†Daddy said, “It won't help anyway"
Sis was all of six and her brother only four
But she could read Bible stories like Momma did before
CHORUS
Faith like a child; Oh, handle with care
One day you'll look and it won't be there
Can the Good Lord's Book make sense of life's trials?
Oh to have faith; faith like a child
Oh to have faith; faith like a child
Momma hid her treasures deep in their hearts
Daddy was so broken the house of cards fell apart
Sis read Momma's Bible and as they started to pray
Daddy walked in the room ‘cause he just had to say
Chorus
Instrumental
So Daddy wrote this song as a tiny reminder
To love the Word of God and be a whole lot kinder
He hopes and he prays though it might take awhile
That God will restore his faith like a child
========ORIGINAL VERSION=========
It was time for bed; time to read and to pray
“Never mind,†Daddy said, “Stop your routine today
Don't waste your breathe; don't waste my time
Just get on up to bed and turn off the lightâ€
Halfway up the stairs I called out in the dark
Read us the Bible don't shrink our hearts
I heard his mocking laugh then he flat out threatened me
Yelling get on up the stairs before I count to three
CHORUS
Faith like a child; handle with care
One day you'll look and it won't be there
Can the Good Lord's Book make sense of life's trials?
Oh to have faith; faith like a child
Oh to have faith; faith like a child
My sister was all of six and I was still four
But she could read Bible stories like Momma did before
More precious than silver; more costly than gold
Words are meant to feed; feed a hungering soul
Momma hid her treasures deep in our hearts
Daddy's heart ached so bad something new had to start
Sis read Momma's Bible and as we started to pray
Daddy walked in our bedroom ‘cause he wanted to say
Chorus
Instrumental
So Daddy wrote this song as a tiny reminder
To love the Word of God and to be a whole lot kinder
He hopes and he prays though it might take awhile
That God will restore his faith like a child
Great song/story James, i like it. I see you are using some nice lyrical techniques in there namely, the repetition
Oh to have faith; faith like a child
Oh to have faith; faith like a child
which of course I approve considering Ive done the same thing myself this week.
My only critisism is that on the mp3 I think the outro is a bit too long, it feels like a kind of a Shakespearian death to me.
cheers

POOF  Ending shortened
Starts a little dark, but the usual twist ending makes it all OK....
Nice one James, keeping your high standard up.
Keep 'em coming!
