First Time That I Met Jesus (updated MP3)
http://soundclick.com/share?songid=6891916
First time that I met Jesus
Wasn't on a mountain top high
I was down in the Valley of the Shadow
Wishin' and a hopin' I would die
The next time that I met Jesus
Wasn't in his Glory in the sky
He out on the streets of the city
Holdin' that boy's Mama as she cried
The last time that I met Jesus
I swore that I would never be the same
I'd spend my days in search of truth and justice
And sing my songs in praise of His name
First time that I met Jesus
Wasn't on a mountain top high
I was down in the Valley of the Shadow
Wishin' and a hopin' I would die

Thank you, Celt.
That was great.
I wasn't going to listen to the song since it takes too long to download with dial-up but I made an exception when I saw your topic. And using the low-fi option, it loaded pretty fast.
Very good lyrics (and the way most of us encounter Jesus).
Are you going to expand on the lyrics?
KR2
It's the rock that gives the stream its music . . . and the stream that gives the rock its roll.
Thanks Ken,
I was thinking about expanding the lyrics but I also
enjoy the simplicity of it the way it is.
I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Job almost done. Sounds good so far, anyway.
Two little things.........
First - and foremost - you seem to have a latency issue with the recording software - the lead guitar sounds a touch out of sync to me, as if it's a fraction of a second late. If you're using Audacity, you can correct this with the "time shift" feature. I ALWAYS have to correct my overdubbed recordings - vocals coming in too late, lead guitar playing behind the beat instead of on it. It IS only a fraction of a second, but it makes a big difference.
Secondly, and here I'm just musing aloud - I'm not sure that using the first verse again at the end of the song works. To be honest, I didn't notice when I was listening to the track - but reading the lyrics you've got the first time, the next time, the last time, then the first time again - seems a touch illogical to me. Maybe starting along the lines of "The next time I hope to see Jesus" would set the scene for the closing verse?
:D :D :D
Vic
"Sometimes the beauty of music can help us all find strength to deal with all the curves life can throw us." (D. Hodge.)
And to continue along Vic's line of musing aloud,
maybe save the last time for:
Last time in this world I'll meet Jesus
Will be above the mountain top high
I've passed through the Valley of the Shadow
And have bid this world my goodbye
kinda ties the beginning to the end . . . and maintains its simplicity (simple I can do)
OK, I'm done musing too.
It's the rock that gives the stream its music . . . and the stream that gives the rock its roll.
Hi Celt,
just wanted you to know just listened and I really liked your song. I like your style and voice. The song had a good feeling for me.Good job.
Did some more musing and edited my previous post (about 6 times).
But if you add more lyrics I was thinking along the lines of
"there are no atheists in foxholes" type of thing (IOW, some people meet Him there).
It's the rock that gives the stream its music . . . and the stream that gives the rock its roll.
Thanks for the suggestions,
I think KR is on to something with that last verse Idea.
I'm off to jam tonight (more on that later) and have a
busy work day tomorrow but maybe I can rework this by
the weekend.
John
Thank for all the help guys!
I wrote a new final verse and made some minor changes
fixed the latency issue and recorded new vocals.

It will be in the house of His Father
In a city where the streets are paved in gold
