hello again! so ive re-written a song by 'the raconteurs' called 'steady as she goes', was a fairly big single for them a few years ago, featured in a lot of tv/movies/computer games.

heres the original:

and my MP3:

http://www.soundclick.com/player/single_player.cfm?songid=10792277&q=hi&newref=1

and my new set of lyrics:

"You live and you learn"

You take your first steps towards your last
Swear you'll never end tied to a mast

You live and you learn (You live and you learn)
You live and you learn (You live and you learn)
Yes you live and you learn

When people move on forward, you move on back
Tell them you'd go with them but you hate to pack

You live and you learn (You live and you learn)
Yes you live and you learn (You live and you learn)

You're learning that to live you have to learn some other stuff as well
Proud to stand off from the herd but now you've gone and lost that rebels yell
Yes you live and you learn

Standing at a crossroad in the early morning sun
One foot after the other, that's how you'll get this done

Now you're on your way
Now you're on your way

You live and you learn (You live and you learn)
Yes you live and you learn (You live and you learn)

You're learning that to live you have to learn some other stuff as well
Proud to stand off from the herd but now you've gone and lost that rebels yell
Yes you live and you learn
You live and you learn

Learn to live your life, before you drown
If you don't you'll die in this little town
Learn to live your life, before you drown
If you don't you'll die in this little town

Yes you live and you learn (You live and you learn)
You live and you learn (You live and you learn)
You live and you learn (You live and you learn)
Yes you live and you learn (You live and learn)

You live and you learn (are you living now?)
You live and you learn (are you learning now?)
You live and you learn (are you living now?)
You live and you learn (are you learning now?)
Yes you live and you learn

Hi Ben,

Good job :D It fits very well.

A couple suggestions to take or leave as you see fit

You live and you learn (You live and you learn)
Well you live and you learn

consider...........

You live and you learn (You live and you learn)
YES you live and you learn

----------

Learn to live your life, before you drown
If you don't you'll die in this little town

consider...........

Learn to live your life, (AND/NO) NOT TIED DOWN
If you don't you'll die in this little town

or

Learn to live your life, GET UP/OUT MOVE AROUND
If you don't you'll die in this little town

or

Learn to live your life, MOVE OUT GET AROUND
If you don't you'll die in this little town

............or something like that.....drowning in a small town seems to need to be tweaked a bit

Thanks for sharing :D

James

Hi lads.

Cheers for taking a look and thanks for the input.

I think James that you were right about changing 'well' to 'Yes'. flows better to me now so ill edit that in.

Hi Peter. thanks for the idea. i wasnt happy with the word 'stuff' being in there either, i actually really like the line you suggested so i may pinch it if thats cool with you? the other alternative i came up with was:

instead of:

You're learning that to live you have to learn some other stuff as well

having:

You're learning that to live you have to learn to look at those who fell

dont know what you guys reckon about that...

im not sure if ill change the drowning line. still thinking about it definitely but thankyou both for the opinions its really appreciated.

nice one,

Ben
