I really dig the Dixie Chicks. They are one of the few groups that any Nashville record company lets play their own instruments. This is a great song. I don't like much of any thing out of Nashville lately, but this is good 8) 8) --the dog

Dog,

Thanks for the link. I hadn't heard this yet and I really like it first time around! Good tune for sure.

Dixie Chicks lyric
And how in the world can the words that I said
Send somebody so over the edge
That they'd write me a letter
Sayin' that I better shut up and sing
Or my life will be over

Think what she's writitng about has anything to do with this?

Thank you, thank you, thank you!! I love the Chicks! Since I live in the UK undoubtedly I'll have to wait a bit longer for their CD to hit the shops here. But this is the first time I've heard the song, thanks!! :D

Anyways, I'm glad to see radio stations playing their music again. I have respect for people who are willing to speak their mind even when their own audience would disagree with their opinions.

Nice song by the way. Didn't hear any of their music before but this sounds cool enough.

Hi all, although most of what was posted was tame enough, we just don't do politics or religion.

I downloaded the entire album onto my Zen. It's a lot more pop than their previous efforts and I like it.

back around '91 i was at a native american art show and part of the convention hall had a cafeteria set up for people to get refreshments.
on one side of the room (several hundred feet long) was a line of people waiting to get cokes, hotdogs, and chips or whatever. on the other side was a very small stage with about 50 empty folding chairs. on the stage was an all female band called "the dixie chicks" this was right before they dropped their lead singer and got whoever it is now.

i sat thru their entire set mesmerised and enjoyed every note, these gals could play. anyway, at the end of their set they couldn't wait to get off that stage and get the heck out of KC. i hooped and hollared for them and clapped as loud as i could but it didn't make up for me being the only one in the place paying any attention.

i got a few smiles and "thank yous" from the chicks and they left in a hurry. i couldn't believe it a few years back when they made it big, i still think their other lead singer was better tho.

I'm guessing this was back when they were billed as a "cowgirl" band, i.e. playing a lot of bluegrass. I have some of these old albums and I love their pickin'! They've sure come a long way. What a great story, though!

Hi everybody!

Went to the concert this weekend. I won't comment on her bantering of Pres Bush or statements about Pam Anderson. It is just about the music anyway, right? :?

Bob Schneider opened for them. Did about 1/2 hour set. I've never heard of him before. Kinda reminded me of a Sam Roberts/Ricky Martin/Raffi type, if that's at all possible? Very eclectic and entertaining. Anyway...

Between sets was about a 35 min wait. And beer was 7$ each so the wait was long.

Back to the music. I'm always wondering how the music will compare to the CD and this concert was even better than the CD. Her voice was great, overall sound was good, not too loud. The one thing I would comment on is that she didn't introduce her band and there didn't seem too much chemistry between the girls. They each did their own thing and didn't interact with each other until the very end when they kinda got together for the last song.

They played for almost 2 hours with a great mix of old and new. Their old songs were a bit more "rocked" up. Thanks to the drummer, he rocked! There was this cool backdrop that took up the whole stage. Looked like silver material but video actually played on it. Stage show would've been pretty boring without it.

Hopefully my next review for you guys will be Keith Urban, Gwynne. :D

Hey Gwynne,

"I won't comment on her bantering of Pres Bush..." I guess in Natalie's case, old habits are hard to break.

I laughed so hard I nearly wet myself, when she first made political statements that alienated her fan base, then whined about how people were trying to ruin her career. When ya shoot yourself in the foot, it should be real easy to understand whose fault it is that your foot hurts.

I haven't seen Keith in person, but I hear he puts on a great show. I think he is a master of crossover. Not too country for the pop audiences. Not too pop for the country crowd. If only I had his money........talent........ability to make women melt.....
