Well I haven't had that problem, but I wonder if a Martin Backpacker might be the fix.

Some folks find sitting with the guitar and using the "classical" position is a good answer to dealing with this. "Classical" is when you set the guitar on the same leg as the hand that you fret with (right if you're right handed). When you do this, use something to raise that leg slightly. They make little footstools for this but a shoebox or something of that size will do as well.

You might even find that you can now make reaches with your fretting hand that you couldn't do before. This is because the classical position gives your fretting hand a lot of room and leverage. When people play in the "folk" position, they tend to use that leg as a "wrist rest" and that can limit their reach and flexibility.

Hope this helps and good luck!

Peace

Hi,

I must be turning into a woman. All of I could think of was "To heck with guitar - you're going to have a BABY! Great!"

Congratulations. The whole business of pregnancy and birth is such an awesome thing. :D

The suggestions above sound good, but if you can't get a comfortable position then it might just be an opportunity to take up the trumpet. :) Or maybe the harmonica, that might come in handy when you get back to guitar. I wonder if there are any lullabies for harmonica??

Cheers, Chris.

I don't know about everyone else, but I'm surprised Nick hasn't had that problem.

Thanks for all your suggestions apparently the sound of the guitar soothes babies, as it sounds like the sounds they hear in the womb. so i have been wanting to practice some sweet lulabies for the baby when she comes.

At least you can expect your belly "problem" to get better in a couple of months, juletto!

Chances are mine's going to be around longer.
