When my mind is free, you know a melody can move me
And when I'm feelin' blue, the guitar's comin' through to soothe me ~
Never mind the dots.....let it be known, from hereon in I'll be after your blood if you use an apostrophe in the wrong place. With a nod to the great English writer, Keith Waterhouse - founder of the A.A.A.A.....the Association for the Abolition for the Aberrant Apostrophe - the fightback for the correct usage of grammar starts here. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!!!
:D :D :D

So Vic -
Yeah, I hated Shakes' in school.
Just could(')t get past that old English speaking style back then.
I started getting into him on my own in my mid 20s - Absolutely Love him!!!!
I don't think I(')ll ever like Dickens.
Too childish for me (in writing style).
Some people have tried to tell me that(')s how it was done - on purpose.
Well, I don't care - a book as HUGE as David Copperfield with no words longer than one syllable.... Forget it!!!!
As far as Kerouac goes - He is a hard one to read.
His sentences are a paragraph long, and his paragraphs are a page long.
I mentioned him there more for his writing style: No Uppercase letters, no punctuation.
He felt that hindered the creative process of writing.
And as he was one of the most influential writers of the 20th century; how could he be wrong
On the road wasn't about the beatnik philosophy - it was based on actual events w/Neal Cassady. The book
Defined the Beat Generation.
Anyway, I've pointed out most of my apostrophes for ya.
That's been a favorite album of mine since I was four by the way.
A classic - please don't abolish it! :D
Ken
"The man who has begun to live more seriously within
begins to live more simply without"
-Ernest Hemingway
"A genuine individual is an outright nuisance in a factory"
-Orson Welles
So whats' going on.
So whats' going on.
A-ha - the first victim of the clampdown by the AAAA!
WHAT'S going on.....what's is short here for what is, look at it logically - the "i" is missing, and that's where the apostrophe goes........
Sorry, ILTG, but you asked!!!
:D :D :D

I confess to being a bit of a spelling and grammar pedant too. But as I'm a really appalling typist I have to keep my mouth shut most of the time becasue I accidentayll offend a lot as wlle. Mostly I get the letters rigth, it's the odrer I haev trouble wiht.
I'll try Nils suggestion. :)
