Maggot Brain
One of the greatest instrumental songs ever!
i looked up the tab for by the way on taborama.com and found the tab straight from the official book. they have you play 2 strings at once...how do you do this on the bass? kinda strum it with your finger or use 2 fingers and pull them both at the same time or what? ???
If the tab appears like this
---3---
---5---
It means you should play two notes on two different strings at the same time. The upper is an octave. In the general case you can call it a "chord" (it's two notes - or more - at the same time). You can play this by making two hooks with your index and middle finger and pulling lightly the strings, upwards. If you have a three note chord,
--2---
--1---
--3---
than make 3 little hooks with your fingers by slightly bending them and pull the three strings at the same time. If the same chord appears in a repetition in, say, eighth notes, it's a pretty tiresome thing to do...
If the tab looks like
---2----
-----4--
It's obvious that in this case you don't need to play two notes simultaneously.
Cheers.

Brotherjack, that's not an octave, it's a minor third. Also a chord needs three notes. Shaag, if you've got a chord that's repeated quickly, you might try strumming it. It sounds pretty cool.
Play Green Day's cover of Knowledge by Operation Ivy. It is really cool, fun, and easy at the same time.
