The first fret is admitting that you're strung out.

Alice hadn't thought about the mushroom thing for ages, and thought she was being called to the podium to receive her award for completing the 12 fret program.

"One last task", said the mad hatter. "First you must tune this!"

Alice stared at the 12 string manjolin in his hands.

"What key shouldl I tune it to?"

"Why, the one that unlocks the 12th fret" explained the Queen of Harps.

Alice suddenly missed the caterpillar (and his hookah) very much.

Lewis Carol could not put it better.

did you see Hitchcock's 13 Frets...the Sequel?

Doesn't the Stairway to Heaven have 13 frets?
I'm so confused. :|
Where's my therapist?
Ah there it is. Yep, 6 strings and 22 frets.
Apparently 9 more than I need . . .or is it 10?

Uh oh. Here we go again.

It's the rock that gives the stream its music . . . and the stream that gives the rock its roll.

This happens to me now and then.
1) Fret the string at the third fret and if comes out as "G" your string is tuned.
2) If that doesn't work unwind the string and cut it down. Only wrap around the post once then start winding.

I'd agree with those who said mute all other strings while tuning that low E. I mute every string but the one I'm trying to tune if I'm having problems. If no problems, I only mute the string above & below the one I'm tuning. Always mute your high e when tuning low E and vice versa.

I used to hate tuners that would not easily/consistently make it easy to tune the low E. Solved that with a strobe tuner. Great investment for my sanity!
